The Race Course

 Short and Long Course

 

THE COURSES  - The two courses are defined as Long and Short as set below:

Long Course
racers will start off of Balboa Pier in Newport Beach, CA and sail to the Coronado Islands, leaving the small island (Coronado del Norte) to Port and finish approximately 500 yards east of Zuniga
Jetty light "Y" (See 9.The Finish). For scoring purposes, the handicap distance is 91 nautical miles.
 
WARNING: Zuniga is a partially submerged jetty! After finishing clear the west end of the Jetty light “Y” before attempting to enter the San Diego entrance channel. Boats that do not clear the west end of the jetty can run aground!  Check your charts!

Short Course racers will start off of Balboa Pier in Newport Beach, CA and sail to the San Diego
Entrance Whistle Buoy (approx waypoint at 32° 37’ 18” N by 117° 14’ 45” W) leaving it to Port and finish approximately 500 yards east of Zuniga Jetty light "Y" (See 9.The Finish).  For scoring purposes, the handicap distance is 70 nautical miles.

WARNING: Zuniga is a
partially submerged jetty! After finishing clear the west end of the Jetty light “Y” before attempting to enter the San Diego entrance channel.  Boats that do not clear the west end of the jetty can run aground!   Check your charts!
